More awardees in store for Collegiate Awards

A variety of personalities from the two collegiate leagues will also be heralded by the UAAP-NCAA Press Corps this Sunday in the 2009 Collegiate Dinner-Awards Party presented by Smart Sports at the Kamayan-EDSA in Greenhills.

Among the players who will receive recognition from the group of scribes covering both leagues are Ateneo's Jai Reyes and Nonoy Baclao, Letran's RJ Jazul, University of the East's Paul Lee and Elmer Espiritu, San Sebastian's Calvin Abueva and Far Eastern University's Aldrech Ramos.

Reyes and Jazul were given the Super Senior award for their accomplishments on-and-off the court, Lee was named as the Court General, Espiritu as the Defensive Player of the Year.

Abueva, the hardworking forward of the NCAA champion Stags, won the Energy Player honors while Baclao earned the Mr. Intangibles award for his crucial role in the Blue Eagles' second UAAP crown.

Lee and Ramos, meanwhile, earned the nod as Court General and Sudden Impact citations, respectively.

They will formally received their trophies tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. in this annual awards also presented by Smart Sports and supported by the Philippine Sports Commission, Accel, FilOil-Flying V and San Miguel Corporation.

Also to be honored are San Beda Red Cubs coach Ato Badolato for retiring with 16 of the school's 17 high school championships, FEU-Nicanor Reyes Education Foundation cager Terrence Romeo and Jose Rizal University Light Bomber Louie Vigil as the Juniors Player of the Year winners of their respective leagues.

Representatives of former UE athletic director Brenn Perez and ex-JRU cager Jayson Nocom will be given the Posthumous Awards for their accomplishments in the collegiate ranks while FEU and San Beda will also be given citations for their roles in hosing both seasons.

They will join coaches Norman Black of Ateneo and Ato Agustin of San Sebastian and Mythical Five members Dylan Ababou (UST), John Wilson (JRU), Rabeh Al-Hussaini (Ateneo), Jimbo Aquino (San Sebastian) and Sudan Daniel (San Beda) as this year's awardees. (UAAP-NCAA Press Corps)
