UAAP- Jobe case put to rest

Board members of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines yesterday put to rest questions which have been raised on the eligibility of foreign student Jobe Nkemakolam after he played for three seasons for the Ateneo Blue Eagles last year.

Sources said Nkemakolam's eligibility has been tackled so many times in the board, and they are no longer interested in a  complaint which lawyer Levito Baligod filed  with the UAAP board on Tuesday.

The complaint alleged that Jobe Nkemakolam was not qualified to enter college.

Baligod presented as proof a certification from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) dated September 3 stating that Nkemakolam “has not met the academic requirements to graduate from high school, hence, he is not qualified for admission to college.”

But Ateneo board representative Ricky Palou expressed confidence that they have enough documents to prove that Nkemakolam is eligible.

“This is an old issue. This has been tackled so many times, and for so many years by the board. Wala ito. Its useless,” said Palou.

Nkemakolam studied high school at Reedley International, before he took up residency and played for some with Ateneo's Team B. He was later transferred to Team A.

Board members added that the case is already a “dead” issue.
